Reading for pleasure or for purpose?
I've been in a reading slump lately, and read far less than I used to. When I was younger I would inhale books that were fictional and fun, usually horror type writings. It was a magical place to be!
Nowadays, I am torn between reading with purpose in mind or diving back into a black hole of purely, pleasurable fiction. I teach criminal justice so I feel compelled to read books that help educate me on some part of the system - recently it's been biology and crime.
Super interesting and educational. . . but I feel like I'm missing something. I grabbed a fiction book two weeks ago and had it done in a couple of days. My "learning" or purpose books take me much longer.
So my questions to you - do you read for pleasure or purpose? And what makes you happier? What are your current reads in either category?
